Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques Workshop

Comfort Craft visits Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques Workshop in Hilton Head, SC

By Jim Craft

April 30-May 1st I attended David Clinger’s Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques Workshop in Hilton Head Beach, SC.  What a great place to have a hands on seminar, the hotel was right on the beach and the restaurants and shops within walking distance.  It was great to see all the people riding bikes all over town.

The seminar had 30 plus people attend.  David Clinger used the Model 800 table throughout his seminar which the attendees loved seeing it in action and were impressed with how quiet the table was.  David was able to demonstrate the techniques with ease on the Model 800 table.  David and his Crew did a fantastic job teaching the seminar. The attendees left with a great understanding of Erik Dalton’s work.  I look forward to working with David and his crew at future seminars.

On the last day of the seminar, I got to meet Cindy Graham, who bought the show table.  She couldn’t make it to David’s seminar this time but she was able to take advantage of getting her Model 800 STP at a special show price and got to take “The Ride” on her tableJ!

Why Massage Therapists Love Comfort Craft Tables

Why Massage Therapists Love Comfort Craft Tables

Physical therapists always work hard to give comfort and relaxation to their clients. Nevertheless, back pain doesn’t just show up in the clients; many physical therapists can get tension in their body from all the effort they put up with all day during massage sessions. With the invention of Comfort Craft massage tables, though, both therapists and clients are benefiting. Our massage tables are not flat like the typical massage therapy tables. In fact, Comfort Craft tables have a mid-split design (or the bend, as we like to call it). This allows the clients to lie down more comfortably and to have a more pleasant massage session. As for the therapists, they too benefit from these tables. Take a look:

The Benefits of Comfort Craft Tables on Massage Therapists

Because of the mid-split design, therapists don’t have to put strain on their shoulders, arms, neck, and back in order to give a good massage to their clients. The bend in the tables allows therapists to use their weight rather than their strength to give their clients a great massage like never before. This is a big reason lots of physical therapists swear by Comfort Craft tables and nothing else.

Other Benefits

Other than the amazing benefits of the client receiving a better treatment and the physical therapist having less discomfort during a given session, there are a number of other benefits for using a Comfort Craft massage table. Comfort Craft massage tables are great for the disabled since they can adjust to a height below 19”. As a result, a bodywork professional can gain a bigger client list because of these height adjustable tables. Another fantastic benefit of some Comfort Craft tables is that they can be folded and packed for traveling, which means that if you need to do a massage session while in another city, you can take your equipment with you without a hassle.

Latest Model

All Comfort Craft tables have their own unique features and perks. For the purpose of our example, we are going to use the latest model, Model 850, to describe the wonderful benefits for both the client and the physical therapist of using a Comfort Craft massage table. Model 850 has a lateral rear unit, which will move 25 degrees in either direction for working the lower extremities during side-to-side movement. This unique feature was designed for ART (Active Release Technique) and other types of treatments that require movement during therapy. The second new feature is the removable shoulder extension at the front pad area. This design provides a front pad that can change from a 30”/32” wide pad to a 16” wide chest pad that allows for total shoulder movement in the face-down or face-up positions. We’ve also added special foam in the center of the pad for chiropractic-type adjustments yet still offer the comfort of a massage table.

The importance of Mid-Split Design

The Comfort Craft Mid-Split has revolutionized the way a therapist can relax, open and decompress the body.
25 years ago my therapist asked me to build a table that bends! He kept saying the body is not flat, so after understanding the benefits, Comfort Craft created the original bending massage table.  After building this bending table for 20 years and listening to the feedback from our owners, I can confirm the benefits exceed my expectations.

I have found that  very few therapists and clients understand how important the stretching of the front line of the body is. From my own experience, after kite boarding for a few hours, I have a hard time standing up straight.  When kiting, with my shorter arm, I had to lean forward to control the kite and I created a pattern in my body that was locked on. I found I was able to change my body pattern by lying on my back on the table, using the foot control to raise the mid-split 25-30 degrees for 5-10 minutes.  What a difference the mid-split table makes in such a short time! Think about it, how could this table help your clients stand up straight in minutes!

Jim's Edmonton Adventure with James Waslaski

Talk about a “cool” seminar!

This Florida boy ventured up to Edmonton, Canada for a James Waslaski 5 Day Seminar earlier this month.  As if I was not cold enough, they had the first snowfall of the season.  Yes, the snow was beautiful, but I was not happy, missing my Florida sunshine and warm weather.

It was a great seminar and I had the opportunity to meet lots of new massage therapists from the Canadian Western Flatlands. I have enjoyed a professional and personal relationship with James for years and I still always find his seminars fascinating.  During the years, I have observed the changes in his style and techniques, and always leave his sessions inspired.

One of the highlights of the week was going to a rodeo.  We were right there in the pit with both the cowboys and the bulls which added to the excitement.  Those cowboys are like gladiators when they ride.  This was a new experience for me and all I can say is “WOW”!

I thank Dena Denali, one of our Canadian Comfort Craft table owners and friend, for getting us into the “Heart of the Rodeo“ where we were able to experience firsthand what is involved in running this event.

Canada was beautiful, the people were great, but I sure was glad to get home to the beach and my kiteboard!
